Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
Contrary to the name, the benefits under VAWA do not apply solely to women. Rather, the act can equally apply to men who are battered. A battered individual who was married to a U.S Citizen can self petition to adjust status independently on the basis of sustained abuse caused by their U.S Citizen spouse. An abused spouse must be able to substantiate abuse by providing evidence demonstrating pattern of abuse.
Fiancé Visa
If you plan to marry and bring your non-resident fiancé to the United States, U.S. Immigration Advocates can assist you with the process of bringing your fiancé to the US. Within 90 days of your fiancé’s entry into the United States, you must the marriage to allow your fiancé to remain within the U.S.
